This collection brings together FUFU&GAGA pantry cabinets: tall, freestanding kitchen pantry cabinets that give you a real pantry where the kitchen has none, with doors to hide food and supplies, adjustable shelves and, on many models, drawers and a microwave shelf. To choose one, measure the wall and the walkway in front of it, decide what you will store (canned goods, boxes, bulk bags or small appliances), and check the shelf and total weight ratings. A freestanding kitchen pantry is the simplest way to add extra storage without remodeling, and it moves with you when you do.
How to Choose a Kitchen Pantry Cabinet
Start with measurements: height, depth and the room around it
Pantry cabinets come in various sizes. Most tall models here stand about 61" to 79" tall, with 70.9" the most common height, which leaves room above on a standard 8-ft ceiling. For taller walls, the 90.6" tall black pantry cabinet uses more vertical space. Depth is where a freestanding pantry differs most from built-in cabinetry: most models are 11.8" to 19.7" deep (15.7" is typical), versus 24" for a standard base cabinet, so they sit along a wall without crowding the kitchen. A few two-piece units with a worktop, like the 30" white food pantry with wall-mounted cabinet, are about 24" deep. Our pantry cabinet dimensions guide covers shelf spacing and aisle clearance.
| Width | Best for | Examples in this collection |
|---|---|---|
| 23"–31.5" | Narrow spots beside a fridge, at the end of a counter or in a laundry room | Stilla 27.6" pantry, 61" white food pantry (23.3" W, 11.8" D), 31.5" pantry with rotating shelves and door racks |
| 40"–47.2" | One wall section or a corner of a small kitchen | 40" pantry with upper and lower cabinets, 47.2" white kitchen storage cabinet (77.5" tall) |
| 53.7"–63" | A main pantry wall with countertop space | 59" sideboard display cupboard, 61.4" pantry with wine storage, 63" pantry with hutch and microwave shelf |
| 70.9"–94.5" | Full-wall pantry storage | 70.9" industrial brown pantry, 94" gray food pantry |
Features: shelves, doors and drawers
- Adjustable shelves (listed on 19 models) let you set each shelf to the height of what sits on it, from spice jars to cereal boxes.
- Door racks and rotating shelves keep small items visible. The 31.5" natural pantry with door shelves and the 31.5" white pantry with rotating food storage shelves are built around this.
- Drawers hold snacks, foil, wraps and kitchen tools.
- Organizing: group similar food in zones, use clear, labeled containers and rotate first in, first out to waste less. See how to organize a pantry cabinet.
- Doors: solid doors hide clutter; glass, mesh or sliding glass doors show off jars and dinnerware.
Microwave shelf and small appliances
Eleven models list a microwave shelf, often paired with a countertop area for a coffee station or small appliances like mixers you want off the counter but within easy access. Before you set a microwave on it, check the clearance in the microwave's manual, keep its vents open and plug it directly into a wall outlet. Our guide to using a microwave in a pantry cabinet explains the details.
Weight capacity
Total capacity ranges from 50 lb on a slim six-shelf cabinet to 300 lb or more on the larger pantries. Where a shelf rating is listed, it is 11 to 33 lb per shelf. Keep cans, drinks and bulk bags on the lowest shelves.
Materials, safety and assembly
Most frames are manufactured wood, with solid plus manufactured wood, metal accents or glass doors on some models. Colors include white, natural, black, gray and brown. A loaded pantry cabinet is tall and top-heavy, so anchor it to a wall stud: 23 of the 25 models with listed specs include a tip-over restraint kit. Most models ship flat for home assembly with a screwdriver, and the larger ones are a two-person job.
Pantry Cabinets vs Pantry Sideboards
This page focuses on tall, freestanding pantry cabinets for food storage. If you want a wider, lower buffet that doubles as a serving surface, browse our buffet pantry cabinets and pantry sideboards. If your kitchen has no built-in pantry at all, see our ideas for a kitchen with no pantry.

Pantry Cabinets FAQs
What is a stand-alone pantry called?
A stand-alone pantry is usually called a freestanding pantry, pantry cabinet or kitchen pantry cabinet. Other common names are food pantry, larder cupboard, tall kitchen cabinet and utility cabinet. Wider versions with a countertop and an upper hutch are often sold as a kitchen hutch, pantry cupboard or pantry sideboard. Unlike built-in cabinetry, a freestanding pantry is a piece of furniture you can move, which is why it suits renters and kitchens without a built-in pantry.
How tall is a kitchen pantry cabinet?
Most freestanding pantry cabinets in this collection are about 61" to 79" tall, and 70.9" is the most common height. That fits under a standard 8-ft ceiling with room to tilt the cabinet upright after assembly. Built-in tall pantry cabinets are taller, typically 84" to 96", because they are sized to line up with wall cabinets. If you have tall ceilings, look for models around 90".
How deep should a pantry cabinet be?
A 12" to 16" depth works best for food storage, because cans, jars and boxes stay one or two rows deep where you can see them. Deeper 20" to 24" cabinets fit bulk packs, small appliances and baking trays, but items get lost at the back unless you use bins or pull-out baskets. Most pantry cabinets here are about 15.7" deep. See our pantry cabinet dimensions guide for more.
Can I put a microwave in a pantry cabinet?
Yes, if the cabinet has a designated microwave shelf and you follow the microwave's installation manual. Countertop microwaves need open air around their vents, so leave the clearance the manual specifies, keep the space open while it runs, and plug it directly into a wall outlet, never an extension cord. Also check that the microwave's weight is within the shelf rating. Read our microwave in a pantry cabinet guide.
What is the difference between a pantry and a kitchen cabinet?
Kitchen cabinets are fixed base and wall units built into the kitchen run, usually 24" deep below the counter and 12" deep above it. A pantry is storage dedicated to food and supplies. A pantry cabinet is a tall, often freestanding unit with doors and several shelves from floor to near-ceiling, so it holds more food in a small footprint and can be moved when you rearrange or relocate.
Do pantry cabinets need to be anchored to the wall?
Yes. A tall pantry cabinet is top-heavy once its upper shelves are loaded, and an open door or a child climbing a shelf can tip it forward. Fasten it to a wall stud with the anti-tip kit, or use suitable wall anchors where there is no stud. 23 of the 25 models in this collection with listed specs include a tip-over restraint kit. Our guide on anchoring tall furniture to the wall shows the steps.
Where should I put a pantry cabinet if my kitchen has no pantry?
The best spots are next to the refrigerator, at the end of a counter run, or on a nearby dining room, hallway or laundry room wall. Leave at least a 36" walkway in front so doors open without blocking traffic, and keep the cabinet away from the oven and other heat sources, which shorten the shelf life of food. Our ideas for a kitchen with no pantry cover more options.
How hard is it to assemble a pantry cabinet?
Most pantry cabinets arrive flat-packed with hardware and instructions, and the main tool you need is a screwdriver. Plan on two people for tall or wide units, especially when you stand the cabinet upright and attach the anti-tip kit. Check that your order arrived complete before you start: unused, unassembled items can be returned within 35 days, and the replacement parts service covers missing or damaged parts.
